We are looking for a Science Laboratory Assistant Technician (m/f/d) Full-time (35 hours per week) YOUR ROLE Work with the Technician to ensure the smooth daily running and maintenance of the eight laboratory spaces and associated storage and preparation spaces. YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Preparation of practical materials Prepare materials for use in classroom practical activities. Liaise with teachers on how they wish to use the practical materials to ensure appropriate delivery. Deliver materials to lessons, setting up / assembling equipment where required. Remove of practical materials at the end of a lesson. Maintain and communicate safety standards. Maintenance of resources Maintain organization of equipment and equipment stocks in laboratory spaces and preparation rooms. Remove of dirty glassware from laboratory spaces. Wash dirty glassware and returning it to the laboratory spaces. Maintain equipment by making small repairs. Advise the Technician of breakages, deficiencies of equipment in laboratory spaces. Management of resources Receive materials and goods from the caretakers. Communicate any physical plant damages to the caretakers team. Ensure that the laboratory work benches and sinks are kept clean. Make short trips off campus to purchase sundry items. Ensure that any deficiencies in the cleaning performed by subcontractors is notified to the Business Manager. Preparation of chemical and biological materials Prepare and dispose of chemical solutions and substances. Prepare and clear away biological materials, including low level bio-hazardous materials. YOUR PROFILE General laboratory technical skills and technical knowledge of science Proficiency in the safe use and disposal of chemicals or an appropriate vocational qualification. Ability to create and operate systems relating to laboratory organisation, including keeping appropriate (written) and computer records. Ability to respond technically to changes in teaching methods and course content Ability to communicate effectively with staff and students. Fluency in German (B2 standard) and English (B1 standard) to work in accordance with German safety regulations.
